Summary:
Maintains quality standards by inspecting, testing, sorting, sampling, materials or processed, machined, fabricated, or assembled parts or products for defects, wear, and deviations from standards and specifications.
May use manual precision measuring instruments, program and operate complex test equipment such as Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications requirements utilizing best method of inspection (manual and/or CMM).
Operate CMM with minimal basic programing against drawing and model requirements.
Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements.
Review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required.
Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected.
Mark items with detail acceptance-rejection status.
Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems.
Discard or reject products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
Collect or select samples for testing or for use as models.
Fill out inspection reports describing results.
Compare colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
Compare physical characteristics of materials or products to specifications or standards.
Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs.
Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning.
Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed.
Clean production equipment.
Stack finished items for further processing or shipment.
Sort materials or products for processing, storing, or shipping.
Measure ingredients or substances to be used in production processes.
Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair.
Required
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
5 to 10 years of experience
Knowledge on Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T),
Operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines with PC-Dimis software.
Able to use desktop computer to generate spreadsheets, presentations, databases and documents.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Knowledge on AS9100 working environment and First Article Inspection (AS9102)
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
